Steven Verhasselt is the founder of FB Cargo Strategy.
After graduated in Brussels, from Ehsal with a Master Degree in Business Administration, he started working for the Regional Development Agency, focused on assisting startup companies with business plans, seed and venture capital. One of the projects lead him into cargo aviation, and once you are in, ...
Steven entered the aviation world in 2001 running a project to start up a cargo airline based in Brussels. He found a mentor in Herman Neukermans, and a Compagnon de Route in Koen Servaes. The project led him to the Middle East and Asia. In 2003, Steven landed in Hong Kong and liked it a lot. He started his own company, offering business development Asia services to airports, airlines and aviation related companies.
Steven worked for the business development team of Brussels Airport, and successfully established the first direct connection between Brussels and Beijing. His true passion led him to Liege Airport as Cargo Development Manager Asia in 2006. He worked there for 15 years as the commercial director of Liege Airport, Belgium’s leading cargo airport. He was responsible for the global cargo development as core business, but was also in charge of passenger, real estate and Liege Airport Consulting. Steven became the face of a leading European Cargo Airport living in Hong Kong and travelling around the globe.
Since 2022, Steven works full time for FB Cargo Strategy Ltd, his company. Steven is no longer working mainly for LGG Airport, and definitely not exclusively. He works on different projects for Airports. All the projects have in common that they are innovative, and air cargo related, and always partnerships with colleagues who became friends.

Koen Servaes - although a geologist by education, Koen Servaes made his career in aviation. He started his career at the operations department of Belgavia, a Brussels based handling agent, in 1976. He became operations manager at Flying Tigers in Brussels five years later.
When Flying Tigers, at that time the largest cargo operator in the world, was taken over by Federal Express, he left the company and started his own consultancy company in 1985. With his company he handled a wide scope of activities. He developed operation software for the cargo aviation industry, organized over 300 cargo charter relief flights to Africa and had several mid and long term consultancy and representation jobs for several main players in the aviation or general industry. (DHL, Brussels airport, Liege airport, Sabena, Ford Motor Company, Eurohandling, Anova, SA Airlink, Simba Air Cargo)
In a career that spans over 38 years he approached the industry from various different viewpoints: handling agent, cargo airline, airport operator, GSA and broker/expeditor. He has been dealing with the operational, commercial and management aspects of the cargo aviation industry.
Previously already strongly involved with African aviation, the focus became completely on Africa when he moved to Kinshasa in 2008. On behalf of investors he established a handling company in Kinshasa and Lubumbashi.
In 2010 he became the first non-Ethiopian director at Ethiopian Airlines. As cargo director he was involved with all cargo aspects.
He had a great contribution to the restructuring and development of the African cargo network and the hub in Addis Ababa. End 2011 he became business development manager for Avient. He opened new stations in Pemba and Juba and restructured existing stations in Pointe Noire, Bamako and Ouagadougou.
In October 2013 he made an eighteen-month contract as CEO for Triple F, a Nairobi based handling agent. He restructured the company and turned it into a profitable enterprise after four consecutive years of loss making.
Since April 2015, Koen is also working on FB Cargo Strategy projects on a freelance basis. In the last years Koen has been dealing with airlines, handling companies, airport operators, shippers, freight forwarders and civil aviation authorities in more than 20 countries.
